Itinerary
Day 1
Day 1: Arrival in Moshi
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Moshi. Meet your guide for a briefing and equipment check. Rest and acclimatize in preparation for the trek.
Day 2
Day 2: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
Altitude: 1,860m to 2,720m Distance: 8km, 4-5 hours After breakfast, transfer to Marangu Gate for registration. Begin your trek through the lush rainforest, home to various wildlife species. Reach Mandara Hut in the early afternoon and enjoy the stunning views. Overnight at Mandara Hut (2,720m). Kilimanjaro Marangu Route
Day 3
Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
Altitude: 2,720m to 3,720m Distance: 12km, 6-7 hours Continue through the moorland and heath zones, passing the famous Maundi Crater. Spectacular views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Reach Horombo Hut by mid-afternoon and rest for the night. Overnight at Horombo Hut (3,720m).
Day 4
Day 4: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut
Optional hike to Zebra Rocks (3,980m) for acclimatization. Rest, relax, and prepare for the higher altitudes ahead. Overnight at Horombo Hut. Kilimanjaro Marangu Route
Day 5
Day 5: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Altitude: 3,720m to 4,703m Distance: 10km, 6-7 hours Trek through the alpine desert towards Kibo Hut, located at the base of the summit. Kilimanjaro Marangu Route Early dinner and rest in preparation for the midnight summit attempt. Overnight at Kibo Hut (4,703m).
Day 6
Day 6: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut
Altitude: 4,703m to 5,895m (summit), then descend to 3,720m Distance: 22km, 10-14 hours Start the final ascent around midnight. Reach Gilman’s Point (5,681m) at sunrise, followed by Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. Kilimanjaro Marangu Route Capture breathtaking photos and celebrate your achievement before descending to Horombo Hut. Overnight at Horombo Hut.
Day 7
Day 7: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate
Altitude: 3,720m to 1,860m Distance: 20km, 6-7 hours Descend through the rainforest back to Marangu Gate. Collect your summit certificate and transfer back to Moshi. Celebrate with a farewell dinner at your hotel.
