About this trip
The 4-day Sirimon route is the most scenic and gradual way to climb Mount Kenya. You’ll trek through lush forests and the picturesque Mackinder’s Valley before pushing up to Point Lenana (4,985m) for sunrise. The trek is highly rewarding and requires strong fitness and good altitude acclimatization.
Sirimon Route, you will be trekking to Point Lenana at 16,059 feet (4,895 meters)—one of Mt. Kenya’s three summits—is challenging but enjoyable for fit walkers. Make the hike with a guide for safety on this 4-day adventure from Nairobi.
Follow the Sirimon route through montane forest, heaths, and valleys; see unique flora and fauna; and absorb incredible summit views before descending. Three nights’ mountain camp accommodation, meals, and hotel transfers are included.
Itinerary
Day 1
Day 1: Nairobi – Old Moses Camp
4 Days Mt Kenya Sirimon, Depart Nairobi at 8:00am and drive north to Nanyuki town. After picking the necessary provisions, drive to Sirimon gate 2600m where the trekking starts. Hike for 3-4hrs through the rain forest to Old Moses camp (3300m) for dinner and overnight.
Day 2
Day 2: Old Moses Camp – Shipton Camp
After breakfast, hike for 6-7hrs to Shiptons camp (4200m), enjoying the views of the moorland with different types of mountain plants and flowers complimenting the awesome hike. Dinner and overnight in the camp.
Day 3
Day 3: Shipton Camp – Point Lenana – Old Moses Camp
Summit Pt. Lenana(4985m) at 3:30am. After sunrise, descend back to the camp for breakfast. Descend further down to Old Moses camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 4
Day 4: Old Moses Camp – Nairobi
After breakfast, leave the mountain via Sirimon gate and drive back to Nairobi or to the next destination.
