6-Days Mount Kenya Climbing

Itinerary

1. Day 1

   Day 1: Nanyuki

   Depart Nairobi at 9:00am and drive north to Nanyuki town for lunch. Afternoon spent at leisure with a short acclimatization walk to the equator line. Stay in a base hotel on bed and breakfast basis.

2. Day 2

   Day 2: Old Moses Camp

   After breakfast, transfer to Sirimon gate 2600m where the trekking starts. Hike for 3-4hrs through the rain forest to Old Moses camp (3300m) for dinner and overnight.

3. Day 3

   Day 3: Shipton Camp

   After breakfast, hike for 6-7hrs to Shiptons camp (4200m), enjoying the views of the moorland with different types of mountain plants and flowers complimenting the awesome hike. Dinner and overnight in the camp.

4. Day 4

   Day 4: Austrian Hut

   After breakfast, take the summit circuit pass via hauseberg col and the Arthur’s seat down to American camp before going up to Austrian hut (4790m) for lunch. Explore the remaining glaciers in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight in the camp.

5. Day 5

   Day 5: Met Station

   Summit Pt. Lenana(4985m) at 5:30am. After sunrise, descend back to the camp for breakfast. Descend further down to Met. Station (3048m) for dinner and overnight.

6. Day 6

   Day 6: Nairobi

   After breakfast, leave the mountain via Naromoru gate for a short transfer to Naromoru village. Drive back to Nairobi or to the next destination.
